SALEM – Mr. John McHugh, 68, of Rockport, formerly of Salem, died unexpectedly, December 23, 2020 at his home.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late James B. and Madelyn (Condon) McHugh. He was raised and educated in Salem and attended Salem High School. One of 11 brothers and sisters, he had a close bond with his tight knit family.
Mr. McHugh had been employed as a custodian with the State of Massachusetts.
A loving brother and uncle, John, as a young man was an astute athlete. He enjoyed spending his time at the YMCA and working on his physical fitness. He also relished in time spent with family and friends at Wonderland. He overcame many challenges in life and he loved his family dearly. He will be missed.
John is survived by his sisters, Rosemary Jones and her husband, Timothy of Salem and Dolores Lampron and her husband, Paul of Peabody, his brothers, William McHugh and Michael McHugh both of Salem and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Marilyn Vandeveld, Helen McGuire, Elizabeth Rust, Mary McHugh and James and Richard McHugh.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service was privately held in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
