PEABODY – John Nicolosi 73, of Peabody, beloved husband of Imelda (Cansanay) Nicolosi, passed away unexpectedly, August 11th, 2020 at Massachusetts General Hospital.
He was the son of the late Lawrence and Harriet (Bernard) Nicolosi.
He was raised and educated in Gloucester and was a graduate of the Gloucester High School Class of 1965.
He joined the United States Navy after graduation he served his country valiantly on the U.S.S. Point Defiance LSD31 during the Vietnam war. Then served in the United States Coast Guard Reserves while beginning to raise his family in 1970.
He had been employed as a machinist at Gloucester Engineering. He worked as a Plumbers Apprentice, an EMT, as well as, with the State of MA Manchester D.P.W. He was a Steam Fireman Engineer for Salem State University until his retirement.
A loving man John was devoted to his family. He enjoyed being with friends of which he had many, as he was an outgoing guy with a smile for everyone. He was a people person. He loved working with tools, creating and fixing things and teaching his daughters his skills.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by the mother of his two daughters, Anita Nicolosi, whom he shared 38 years of marriage and remained close friends with throughout life sharing holidays and the lives of their daughters Crystal Nicolosi of Gloucester and Michelle Nicolosi along with her partner Eric Fonti whom he loved like a son and shared his love of motorcycles with.
He was a long-time member of the Elks Club, the V.F.W and the AMVETS of Gloucester and the UCT.
He was active in Military organizations and was the founder of the U.S.S. Point Defiance Reunion Committee. He enjoyed the comradery of being in touch with his fellow shipmates and he truly relished in the joy these events brought to others. He will be deeply missed.
Along with his stepson, Rommel De Los Reyes and grandson, John Michael De Los Reyes of California, his sister, Judith Prodanas and her husband Stephen of Danvers, his brother, Robert Nicolosi and his wife Nancy of Gloucester, several cousins, nieces, and nephews survive him and his love for all of them will remain in our hearts.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service which will be held graveside in the Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester, on Monday, August 17th at 1 P.M..
