PEABODY - John G. Rexford, 88, formerly of Everett and Peabody, MA passed away on May 11, 2023, after a short illness. John was born on June 12, 1934, to Francis and Theresa Rexford in Malden, MA. After graduating from his beloved Our Lady of Pity High School in 1954, he subsequently served his country in the United States Air Force (USAF) from 1954 to 1957.
After being honorable discharged from the USAF, John began a long and successful career, first with the John Hancock Life Insurance Company and then with Shawmut Bank.
John had a variety of interests and hobbies, which included but not limited to, being an avid fan of thoroughbred horse racing culminating in attending the 137th running of the Kentucky Derby; travel; fine dining; a prolific reader and a brilliant historian; and especially alpine skiing.
John was predeceased by his parents, brothers Arthur Rexford, Joseph Rexford, Francis Rexford and sisters Charlotte Meehan, Madeline Badaracco, and Eleanor Graffam. He is survived by his brother, Thomas Rexford and many nieces, and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend John’s visitation and services at O’Donnell Cremations-Funerals Celebrations, 167 Maple Street (Rte. 62), Danvers on Saturday, May 20th from 9:00 AM – 11 AM. Burial will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave., Bourne, MA on Monday, May 22nd at 12:30 PM.
