PEABODY- Mr. John Francis Ruggeri 66 of Peabody, died unexpectedly Monday, August 22nd, 2016 at his home. Born in Beverly he was the son of the late Francis S. and Mary M. (Carnevale) Ruggeri. He was raised and educated in Beverly and was a graduate of Bishop Fenwick High School. He also graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and earned his Master Plumber's certification. A Master Plumber by trade, John was a member of the Plumbers Union local 138 and specialized in residential and commercial plumbing. He also taught future generations of tradesmen while teaching plumbing at Whittier Regional Technical School. More recently he was a member of the plumbing Departments and Maintenance Division of Essex Agricultural School in Danvers. A loving father, brother, uncle and friend, John was active in many civic organizations. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose #218 in Salem, the Italian Community Club of Beverly and the Elks Lodge #1309 of Beverly. He was a competitive pool player, an avid golfer and skier in younger days and truly enjoyed playing chess. Above all else he enjoyed time spent with his children and his family. He will be deeply missed. John is survived by his son Alexander F. Ruggeri and his fiancée Magdalena Gyftopoulos of Peabody, his daughter, Christina M. Ruggeri of Peabody, his ex-wife Sandy Ruggeri, his sisters, Marie Norris and her husband Dennis of Danvers, Lt. Col., Joanne Ruggeri PhD. and her husband Steven Swallow of Alaska, his brother, Paul Ruggeri and his wife Patricia of Coventry, R.I., his nephews, Christopher Ruggeri and his wife Nancy, Joseph Norris, his nieces, Kathleen and Kimberly Norris and many aunts, uncles, cousins and great nieces and great nephews. He was the brother of the late Susan Vrattos.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held in the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers, Monday, August 29th at 1:30 P.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in North Beverly Cemetery, Beverly. Visiting hours prior to the service from 11A.M. to 1 P.M. A memorial Mass will be held in his honor at a later date which will be announced. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be donated in John's memory to Riverside Community Care, Behavioral Treatment Services, 610 Kimball Lane, Suite 310, Lynnfield, MA 01940.
