PEABODY – Mr. Johnstone (John) D. Trott, 86, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Brooksby Village. Born in Lawrence, he was the son of the late Emery J. and Emma (Dickerman) Trott. He was the beloved husband of Nancy (Reeves) Trott with whom he celebrated 61 years of marriage.
John graduated from St. George's Prep School in Middleton, RI before going on to obtain his Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Trinity College. While attending college he ran the college radio program and was the president of his fraternity. After graduation John went on to work in sales and marketing for various businesses throughout Massachusetts. After marrying Nancy, in 1962, they began to grow and raise their family in Wellesley, and Gloucester, MA. His career also took him to the greater Chicago area as well as New Jersey, until moving full-time to Gloucester.
John had a passion for cooking, jazz, and rooting for the Red Sox. During retirement he volunteered serving the elderly community in Gloucester until moving to Brooksby Village in 2014.
In addition to his loving wife, Nancy, John is survived by his children; Amy Trott Murphy and her husband David of Gloucester, MA and Sanibel Island, FL, David Emery Trott and his wife Jill of Williamsburg, VA, and Alan Evans Trott and his wife Carolyn of Kensington, NH, along with grandchildren Emery Charles Trott, David Reeves Trott, his wife Alexis and their soon to be born son and great-grandchild to John, and Blake Timothy Johnson. Additionally, he is survived by his siblings Lorita Aarons and Susan Trott, and many nieces and nephews. John is preceded in death by his brother Gordon Dickerman Dewart.
