Obituary

LYNNFIELD - Mr. Joseph Karagezian passed away at his home Thursday evening, February 4th, 2021 surrounded by his family.

Born in France in 1932, he moved to the states as a teenager 1949 and lived in Peabody.  He was the son of the late Bedros and Siranouche Karagezian.

He received his citizenship in 1951.  He proudly serviced his new country as a member of the United States Navy and National Guard of the Army.

After completing 8 years in the armed services he went onto to start his own business in furniture upholstery, a craft learned as a teenager in France.  Joseph was well respected in the field of Upholstery and was known for his expertise in his craft. He continued his career as a Conservator to some of the finest antique furniture in everything from Museums to the White House.  Also, a highly regarded teacher at The Furniture Institute of Massachusetts and The North Bennet Street School in Boston.  His imprint on antique period piece furniture will last for generations.

He loved his morning coffee and reading literature on Armenians and watching the History Channel.  Joseph believed family was paramount and was happiest when surrounded by them.  He was caring and generous with his time and love.  He will be deeply missed by his family and friends and will be remembered for his quiet, yet strong moral compass.  A compass that will continue to guide, reassure, inspire, and comfort his family for generations to come.  He leaves a legacy of integrity and the world is a better place because of his positive impact he had on anyone who was blessed to know him.

He will be missed by his family in France and the US; his immediate families, his neighbors and colleagues and clients from over the years, and his lasting friendships.
