SALEM - Mr. Joseph Francis Ronan, 74 of Salem, beloved husband of the late Maryann (Maione) Ronan died Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Salem Hospital.

Born in Salem, Joe was the son of the late Edward and Virginia (Hall) Ronan. Raised and educated in Salem, he attended the Bowditch School and Salem High School.

An honorably discharged Veteran, Joe proudly served our country as a member of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.

Joe had been employed as a leatherworker for John Flynn and Sons Leather Tannery of Salem for many years and later worked for the City of Salem in the Parks Department.

A lifelong resident of the City of Salem, Joe was a past member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians - Division 18 of Salem where he made many friends and enjoyed being active in both their Softball and Touch Football Leagues. Joe loved his games of chance and enjoyed playing keno with his family and friends and visiting Foxwoods to gamble. His hopeful nature and dedication brought excitement to those who knew him, he will be deeply missed.

Joe is survived by his daughter; Deborah V. Poretta and her husband John of Peabody, his granddaughter; Lauren Jamieson of Salem, his sisters; Kathleen Harrington of North Hampton, NH and Norma Lee Eon and her husband Robert of Salem, his brothers; Peter Ronan and his wife Carol of Salem and Wayne Ronan of Worcester, his special niece; Robin McGlone and several nieces and nephews and longtime friends; Billy, Mike and Rosie and the extended McHugh Family. He was the brother of the late Edward N. "Hawk" Ronan, James "Harmey" Ronan and Joanne "Toby" McGlone.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours which will be held in The O'Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem, on Friday, November 3rd from 4 to 7 P.M. All other services are private. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Joe's memory to American Lung Association c/o Donation Processing Center, PO Box 7000, Albert Lea, MN 56007-8001.
