PEABODY – Mr. Joseph Anthony Kolodziej, 93, died Saturday, June 27, 2020, at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was the beloved husband of the late Sonia S. (Sedlier) Kolodziej, with whom he shared 66 years of marriage.

Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Anthony T. and Genevieve (Viktor) Kolodziej.  Joe served his country as a member of the United States Navy.  Upon returning home, he began his professional career in the leather industry working at the former Witch City Tanning in Salem. He was also employed for over 25 years at the General Electric Company in Lynn until his retirement in 1989.

Joe was an active communicant of the former St. Joseph’s Church in Peabody, where his family was one of the founding members. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club at the General Electric Company and a 4th Degree Knight as a member of the Knights of Columbus, Veragua Council #76 in Salem.

Joseph is survived by his children and spouses including Kenneth and Helen Kolodziej of Peabody; Karen and Robert Pearson of Salisbury; Joseph and Lisa Kolodziej of Danvers; Anthony and Michele Kolodziej of Peabody; Michael and Carol Kolodziej of Phoenix, AZ; Christopher and Michelle Kolodziej of Salem; and Marc and Kiley Kolodziej of St. George, UT; fourteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and his sisters Stella Almeida and Stacia Swenson of Peabody; his brother Alexander Kolodziej and his wife Sandra of Salem, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Jerome Kolodziej, and his siblings, Katherine Lamphier, Mary Fallis, John, Louis, Frank and Stanley Kolodziej.

ARRANGEMENTS: The Kolodziej family will be holding a Memorial Mass and Life Celebration to honor Joseph at a later date and time to be announced. Assisting the family with the arrangements is the O'Donnell – Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (At Salem Common) Salem.
