SALEM- Ms. Kathie Hussey, born in September of 1957 at Mary Alley Hospital in Marblehead, MA, died Saturday at the Kaplan Family Hospice House surrounded by her family.

Kathie was raised in Salem and Educated at Salem High School and Essex Agricultural Institute. She was a devoted mother, sweet sister, and a caring aunt, cousin, niece and friend. Kathie was always optimistic. With a joke or a song easy on her lips, she loved to laugh and to make others smile. Always a caring listener, Kathie was willing to help anyone who needed her support. She taught us about cheerfulness, loyalty, selflessness and gratitude. Kathie loved the ocean and she loved to dance. She liked to spend summer weekends in Maine and to take drives through Marblehead to point out landmarks while recounting family history. She especially loved Marblehead Light.

Kathie was exceptionally proud of her daughter and was thrilled to share details and stories about her travels and accomplishments. A long-time employee of Dunkin Donuts in Danvers, she was beloved by a wide circle of customers and colleagues, many of whom she remained in touch with long after her retirement. She was a member of the Salem VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and cherished her family history of service. She was an avid Patriots fan and she loved to chat with any and everyone about the game... or anything else.

Kathie is survived by her daughter, Danielle Hussey of Northampton, her sister, Patricia Hussey and her life partner Dorothy Young of Fairfax, VA, her brother, Michael Hussey and his wife Lisa of Ellsworth, ME, her great aunt, Theresa McCarthy and her cousins Shawn McCarthy and Mary McCarthy, and two nieces, Lauren Cunniff and Madison Hussey. She was predeceased by her parents, John E. Hussey and Florence E. (Smith) Hussey of Marblehead.

ARRANGEMENTS- Her Funeral Service will be held in The O'Donnell Funeral Home 46 Washington Sq. (At Salem Common) Salem on Thursday, November 5th at 7 P.M. Visiting Hours prior to the Service from 4 to 7 P.M. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Kathie's memory may be sent to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 75 Sylvan St. Danvers, MA 01923.
