SALEM- Ms. Kathleen M. (Queenan) McMath, 66, of Salem, passed away Monday, January 11, 2021 at her home, following a courageous battle with ALS surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late John and Winifred (Carroll) Queenan. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School Class of 1972.

Ms. McMath had a long and distinguished career in real estate. She worked for several North Shore firms, most recently Keller Williams of Salem. Kathleen assisted many people to purchase homes who otherwise wouldn’t be able to do so. She left real estate to care for her twin grandchildren.

Kathy was kind, compassionate and a huge advocate for the homeless. She had a reputation throughout the North Shore as a champion for the underdog and was instrumental in facilitating the move from the Crombie Street Shelter to the Salem Mission.

A loving mother and grandmother, Kathy’s children and grandchildren were her entire world! She was truly happiest when surround by her large family. She was always ready and willing to give. Her philosophy was “you get by giving.” She made every day experiences special and great fun for all of her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Her strong Catholic faith and the grace of god assisted her especially since her ALS diagnosis. Kathleen will be fondly remember for her love of family, her community involvement and will be deeply missed by her loving family, friends, and the many lives she touched along the way.

Surviving Kathleen are her four daughters, Jennifer Hurley and her husband Scott of Peabody and their children, Olivia McMath, Conor, Scott, and Liam Hurley, Amy McMath and her fiancé Karl Leinsing of, NH and their daughter Alexia Montesano, Hayley Suffriti and her husband Jason and their children Evan and Nae Suffriti and Caitlyn McMath and her daughter, Isabelle Duffy, her siblings, Margaret Roberts and her husband Norman of Salem, George Queenan and his wife Patti of Marblehead, Joanne Camire and her husband James of Windham, NH, John “Jack” Queenan and his wife Joanne of Salisbury and Ann L’Italien and her husband Eddie of Salem, and Patrick and Laura Queenan of North Andover and many nieces and nephews She was friend of Bill W. She was also the sister of the late Barbara Riley and her husband Mark, Paul Queenan and Gary Queenan.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral Mass will be held in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Margin St., Peabody, Friday, Jan 15th at 10 A.M. All attendees must register to attend the Funeral Mass by clicking the link below or by calling the funeral home (978-744-2350). Burial is private. Visiting hours at O’Donnell Cremations - Funerals - Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., Salem, MA 01970, Thursday, Jan. 14th from 3 to 7 P.M. All attendees are required to wear face coverings, practice social distancing and are respectfully asked for no physical contact with the family.
