Kathryn A. (Mercier) Mscisz

GLOUCESTER – Mrs. Kathryn Ann (Mercier) Mscisz 64, of Gloucester and Haverhill, died peacefully on Saturday, April 15th, 2023 surrounded by her beloved family.

Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of Norman Mercier and the late Marie (D’Amico) Mercier. She was born and raised in Haverhill, MA. Kathy attended Haverhill High School and Essex North Shore Agricultural & Technical School specializing in nutrition.

After graduating, Kathy worked as a dietician at the Deaconess Hospital in Boston and went on to open Century Hair Salon in North Andover. She loved making people feel their best and wanted to share her gift with others. After becoming a mother, she sold her hair salon and focused on raising her two children full time in Topsfield. She was a member of the garden club where she developed a passion for flowers and outside gardening. Kathy had a love of food and cooking which was nurtured by her Italian mother. She had the opportunity to travel to Italy to enjoy a private audience with the Pope and attend a cooking school with her husband to develop her love of Italian food.

Kathy was the loving wife of Steven Mscisz, with whom she shared her life and more than 35 years of marriage. She was a caring, devoted, compassionate, loyal wife, mother and grandmother, who always greeted you with a smile and a hug. Family was Kathy’s one true joy. Whether Kathy knew you for five minutes or fifty years, you always left her feeling like you were a special part of her life and that you were truly cared about. She lived her life radiating positivity and approached each challenge in her life with grace and dignity. She lived in every moment, never the past and never the future. Her caring and thoughtful ways were felt by all who knew her whether it be through a homecooked meal, a greeting card, or a bouquet of her favorite flowers. She always knew how to make you feel better.

She will be fondly missed by her husband, Steven Mscisz, her son, Christopher Mscisz and his wife, Emily and her beautiful granddaughter, Mary, her daughter, Jennifer Mscisz and her boyfriend, Andrew, her father, Norman Mercier, her sister, Norma Phaneuf and her husband, Peter of Haverhill, her brother, Stephen Mercier and his wife, Andrea of Gray Court, SC, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Carol and Chester Mscisz, her brother-in-law, John Masiz and his partner, Laura of Gloucester, her brother-in-law, Mark Mscisz and his wife, Linda, and her nieces and nephews, Brittany Mscisz, Tucker Mscisz and Michael Phaneuf. Kathy is predeceased by her loving mother, Marie Mercier, her eldest brother ,William Mercier and her aunt, Connie Mercier. Kathy will also be lovingly remembered by the many friends she had from Topsfield and Haverhill.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend Kathy’s funeral which will be held from O’Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) DANVERS on Friday, April 21st at 9:30 A.M. followed by her funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Church, 12 Park St., Topsfield at 10:30 A.M. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Topsfield.
