Leslie Morrell Obituary

SALEM – Mrs. Leslie Anne Norwood Morrell 70, of Salem, beloved wife of Michael G.  Morrell, passed peacefully in the presence of her family at her home on March 16, 2021.

Born in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Wayne D. and Aimee (Hobbs) Norwood. Being an army family, she spent her young life traveling with her family; educated and raised on US Army bases in Kentucky, Alabama, California and Thailand. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Bentley University and her Master’s Degree from Brandeis University studying Near Eastern Judaic Studies and Woman’s Studies. Experiencing so many different cultures and backgrounds from a young age had profound impact on her life’s point of view.

A lifelong professional educator until the time of her retirement.

A cheerful, optimistic, generous woman, Leslie dedicated herself to her family. She made friends easily and always had a positive view point in all aspects of her life. She was devoted deeply to her Christadelphian faith. Her family and friends meant the world to her and she will be deeply missed.

In addition to her husband, Leslie is survived by her children, James L. Metsch and his wife, Kathryn Leavy of Salem, Elisabeth Vargas and her husband, Jose of Clinton, Leah Kelley and her husband, Jared of Northbridge, Justin Metsch and his wife, Nicole Sandmann of Westminster, Jonathan Morrell and his wife, Maria of Las Cruces, NM, David Morrell and his wife, Lindsay of Scarborough, Ontario, Canada and Malachi Morrell of Hudson, her five grandchildren, her sister, Terri Norwood of Las Cruces, NM, her dear lifelong friend, Pat Bryant of West Boylston and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Denny and Daniel Norwood.

And as she often said, “Roll Tide.”
