SALEM - Mrs. Linda S. Burley, 72, of Salem, beloved wife of Ivor Burley, passed away suddenly on April 24, 2022, at Beverly Hospital, due to respiratory illness complications.
Born in Boston, Linda was the only child of the late Corrine (Nelson) Packey. She was raised and educated in Dorchester, Quincy & Miami by her Swedish mother & grandparents. Linda was a graduate of Quincy High School before moving down to Miami with her mother and stepfather.
Mrs. Burley had been employed for several years at R.H. Stearns in Boston where she did a lot of modeling for their catalogues. Linda was later a Gemologist at Carton Jeweler’s in Boston. Several years later, Linda became a receptionist at Royal Sun Alliance of Boston before she joined the staff at Wesley United Methodist Church in Salem where she was steadfast in her dedication to the church and its many parishioners for over 10 years. She later worked at Sunrise Assisted Living in Peabody & Kernwood Country Club of Salem.
A loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Linda’s greatest passion was her family, and her greatest joy was providing a warm and loving home for them. She was kind and gentle by nature and was the most incredible grandmother to her only grandchild, London. She had a flair for fashion and dabbled in modeling as a young woman and often told the story of how she dated Frank Sinatra, Jr. She had an opportunity to model for Dior in the 70’s in Paris but backed out due to other commitments back home. Linda and her family enjoyed travelling and did so whenever they could. Her most recent travels took her to Istanbul, Turkey and back to Israel, for her second time there. Linda also enjoyed a good trivia competition.
Linda will always remain in the hearts of her loving family and deeply missed by them and her many friends.
Surviving Linda in addition to her husband Ivor with whom she shared 35 years of marriage is her only daughter, Karyn Victoria Burley and her grandson, London James De Souza of Salem.
