GLOUCESTER - Linda J. Rogers was born and raised in Danvers, MA. She received a Bachelor of Arts from Salem State College in 1969 and a Master of Education from Northeastern University in 1972. Linda was a Special Education Teacher at Whittier Vocational Technical High School in Haverhill, MA for thirty-four years.
Linda was a tireless advocate for the disabled and involved in multiple community organizations within Essex County. Linda was an active member of the Alliance for the Mentally Ill and was at the forefront of the organization’s lobbies with state and local government to permanently shut down Danvers State Hospital from 1985-1992.
In retirement, Linda remained active in community organizations and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, General Israel Putnam Chapter, Holten House, Danvers.
Linda was an avid gardener. She enjoyed spending time with her daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca E. Rogers and John F. Cieciuch, and sharing her home and spending time with her best friends.
Linda will be remembered for her devotion to her daughter, Rebecca, her unfailing advocacy, her laughter, and her love of her family and friends.
ARRANGEMENTS: All services are private. Assisting the family with the arrangements is the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (Rte 62) Danvers. All attendees are required to wear face coverings, practice social distancing and are respectfully asked for no physical contact with the family. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Linda’s memory to the Child Mind Institute, childmind.org or to the Holten House in Danvers.
