PEABODY- Lisa A. (Pooler) Burke, age 61, of Peabody, formerly of Salem, died Tuesday, June 20th, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, in the presence and comfort of her loving family and friends.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Clifford Pooler and Elaine (Rose) Pooler. She was raised in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, Class of 1979.
Lisa courageously endured a battle with long-term illnesses but did so with the same unwavering faith and strength that she displayed throughout her life. She retired many years ago due to her declining health but cherished her years of employment serving as a waitress in several local restaurants in Salem. She eventually became a long-term resident of Care One at Peabody Nursing Home. Lisa was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church who was admired by many in her life for her perseverance, courage, and strength. She opened her heart to all and cared for many. Above all else, Lisa will be remembered for her deep, unrelenting devotion to her family. She will be deeply missed by her family and the many friends she met throughout her life.
Lisa is survived by her children, Matthew Burke of Salem; Brian Burke and his wife, Alysia, of Salem; and Amy Burke and her soon-to-be husband, Collin McCarthy of Hanover, formerly of Salem; her beloved grandchildren, James Burke and Hannah Burke; her sister, Kathy Abbott and her husband, Kevin, of Weymouth; her niece Leeann Blais and her husband, Larry; her nephew Bradford Smith and his wife, Kara, of Apex, NC; and her niece Emmi Winter of Germany; her former spouse Thomas Burke of Salem; extended family and many dear friends.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral Mass which will be held in the Immaculate Conception Church, Hawthorne Blvd., Salem, Wednesday, June 29th at 10 A.M. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours in O’Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) SALEM, prior to Mass, from 8:30 to 9:30 AM.
