Lorenzo Raimondi Obituary

DANVERS – Mr. Lorenzo A. “Larry” Raimondi, 94 of Danvers, devoted husband of Beverly Lee (Cabral) Raimondi, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Lahey Hospital in Peabody with his family by his side.

Born in Boston, Larry was the son of the late Antonino and Maria (Iarici) Raimondi. He was raised and educated in Medford, graduating from Medford High School in 1947.

Following his high school graduation, Larry was drafted into the military during the Korean War and honorably served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. During his time in the military, Larry worked as a letter carrier, delivering paychecks to the many soldiers of his branch.

Upon his honorable discharge from the military in 1954, Larry continued his education at Boston University (BU), graduating in 1960 with his law degree. He was extremely proud of his accomplishments and the relationships he fostered through his time at BU.

Professionally, Larry dedicated his entire career as a lawyer, ultimately honing his skills and expertise within the insurance industry in the Greater Boston community. A proud lawyer, Larry valued his connections during his lifetime and especially cherished attending the Massachusetts Bar Association Conference in Chatham, MA. Another memorable event was attending the BU owned Sergeant Camp in Hancock, NH, relaxing with family and spending time with peers from his alma mater.

A true devout Catholic, Larry faithfully attended Mass at St. Mary of the Annunciation Church in Danvers where he served as a greeter for years, and was actively involved in many groups, such as the finance council and bible group. Together as a couple, Larry and Beverly’s devotion to their church community created many opportunities for relationships with lifelong friends and was the foundation of their home and family.

It was the heart of his community in the town of Danvers that Larry felt most connected. Generous with his time and attention, Larry devoted himself to numerous groups and organizations that in return enriched his life. He was a past president and honorary member of the Danvers Touchdown Club and longtime member of the town’s Rotary Club, Historical Society, The Knights of Columbus, the Kawanis Club, and many other organizations.

Above all else, family was the core of who Larry was. He was a loving husband, and a proud father and grandfather. A hardworking man who valued even the simplest traditions, he always enjoyed a homemade meal at the table, surrounded by his family. Larry loved being in nature, hiking with his sons, camping with his family and friends, skiing, traveling and encouraging his sons through boy scouts and little league. As his kids grew, and life slowed down, Larry and Beverly enjoyed traveling everywhere, locally and internationally. He was happiest when with his family or in the serenity of his beautiful yard and garden, a sanctuary that reminded him of his Sicilian heritage and where his family came from. Larry was a great man who leaves behind a beautiful family and legacy. He will be deeply missed.

In addition to his wife Beverly, with whom he shared over 62 years of marriage, Larry is survived by his sons, Lawrence Raimondi of North Reading, Robert Raimondi and his wife, Debra Belle Raimondi of Groveland and Paul Raimondi and his wife, Cheryl of Gloucester; his grandchildren, Peter and Holly Raimondi, Jenna Nolan and Joseph Raimondi and Eric and Abby Raimondi and his beloved 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Larry was the brother of the late Antoinette Raimondi, Anthony Raimondi, Concetta Purpura and Rosina “Rose” Firmston.
