Margaret "Peggy" A. (Keefe) Gauthier

FT. MYERS, FL - Mrs. Margaret “Peggy” (Keefe) Gauthier, 87 of Ft. Myers, Florida formerly of Salem, MA, beloved wife of the late Roger “Pete” Gauthier, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 11th, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Arthur J. Keefe and the late Margaret (Ring) (Keefe) Swinarski. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School.

As a young women Peggy began working at CBS Hytron in Salem, later she joined the family business, Keefe’s Restaurant as a manager & bookkeeper. Her work ethic was exceptional. Peggy kept the books, waitressed, and filled in for any task that needed to be done, making sure everything ran smoothly. Her attention to detail, impeccable.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Margaret worked hard every day to support her family. She was happiest spending time surrounded by her children and grandchildren, involved in their many activities. Peggy enjoyed hanging out with her many friends, shopping, playing bingo and watching the Hallmark channel. She relished the many long telephone conversations with family and friends. Peggy will be remembered as a hardworking woman who loved her family and will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

Surviving Margaret are her sons, Robert A. Gauthier Sr., and his wife, Doris of SC, Wayne R. Gauthier of FL, her daughter-in-law, Lisa Gauthier of FL, her grandchildren, Kaitlin R. Gauthier of FL, Sophie M. Gauthier of FL, Robert A. Gauthier Jr., of SC Jessica A. Gauthier of SC and Erin T. Gauthier of NY, 8 great-grandchildren, 5 brothers and sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. Margaret was also the mother of the late Roger J. Gauthier.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service which will be held in O’Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) SALEM on Monday, May 22nd at 11 A.M.
