BOXFORD- Mrs. Marianne (Cuoco) Quirk, 79 of Boxford, beloved wife of William R. Quirk, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2022 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Beverly she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Andreas) Cuoco. She was raised and educated in Beverly and was a graduate of Beverly High School. Marianne continued her education receiving her Nursing degree from Beverly Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1964.
Kind and caring with a deep desire to help people, Marianne embarked on a long career in nursing beginning at Waltham Hospital. Nursing was interwoven with a growing family. Over the years she dutifully cared for patients at Salem Hospital, Boston Children’s Hospital, Fairfield Visiting Nurse Association and VNA of the Northshore where she touched many lives over the course of her career.
Selflessness in her career was only surpassed by the love she had for her family. The love, generosity and care she showed her patients she equally bestowed on her family. Marianne was a loving and devoted wife and mother who nurtured a warm and loving home, was ever present in their lives, always willing to give her time, support, guidance and love.
Dedicated to her community and church Marianne was steadfast in her belief of giving back to her community. She was President of the Friends of Council on Aging in Boxford, with her need to help others, coupled with her phenomenal organizational skills this was a perfect way for her to give back, which she did for many years. She was also an active member of the Boxford Historical Society and the Topsfield Garden Club. Marianne was an active communicant of St. Rose of Lima Parish in Topsfield and served for many years as a Eucharistic Minister.
Surviving Marianne in addition to her husband William with whom she shared 55 years of marriage are her daughters, Ann Quirk-Tsugranes and her husband Vincent of Bahama, NC and Laura Detri and her husband Ralph of Rehoboth, MA, her siblings, John Cuoco and his wife Mary of Beverly, Catherine Cohane and her husband George of Beverly and Elizabeth Mitchell and her husband John of West Yarmouth. She was also the mother of her late twins, Brian and William Quirk.
ARRANGEMENTS: Celebrations on Monday, January 24, 2022. Funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Church, Park St., Topsfield at 12:00 (Noon). Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Face coverings are required during all services.
