SALEM- Mrs. Marie K. (Sullivan) Giunta, 86, of Salem, beloved wife of Anthony "Tony" Giunta, died July 4th, 2015 at Kaplan Family Hospice House surrounded by her loving family. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Elizabeth (Dalton) Sullivan. She was raised and educated in Salem. She was a graduate of the former St. James Grammar School and St. James Girls High School of Salem.
As a young woman, Marie had been employed in the banking industry until the time of her marriage. Upon the union to her beloved Tony, she focused on providing a loving home for her husband and children. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother who supported her family in all of their endeavors. She was ultimately proud of her children.
A kind woman with a caring heart, Marie devoted her free time as a member of the Infant Savior Guild, the North Shore Catholic Charities and the Women's Friends Society of Salem. She always put others needs before her own.
Marie will be remembered for her loving smile, her devotion to her family and caring nature. A strikingly beautiful woman from a young age, Marie was always elegantly and appropriately dressed for any and all occasions. Her style was always appropriate for her age and she always carried herself with class and dignity. She set a great example for her family to live by and she will be deeply missed.
Marie is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Anthony 'Tony" Giunta of Salem, her daughter, Mary Kate Giunta of Boston, her son, John Giunta and his companion Patty Fraser of Peabody and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late William Sullivan, James Patrick Sullivan and niece of the late Kate Dalton and Ann Dalton.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held from The O'Donnell Funeral Home 46 Washington Sq., (At Salem Common) Salem, Wednesday, July 8th at 9:15 A.M. Followed by her funeral Mass in St. James Church, Federal St., Salem, at 10 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours Tuesday, July 7th from 4 to 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Marie's memory to the Discalced Carmelite Nuns, 15 Mt. Carmel Rd., Danvers, MA 01923.
