CAMDEN, MAINE - Our mother, Marie J. Myers, passed away on January 8, 2019 in Camden, ME at the age of 96.

Marie was born in Roxbury, MA, the only child of William R. and Margaret I. (O'Hearn) Yerrick. Raised in Medford, MA, Marie graduated from Medford High School, class of 1940 and began work at New England Telephone Company the next day.

In 1949 she married our father, David M. Myers of Charlestown, MA. When Marie became pregnant, she had to leave her job, as was the requirement in those days. They moved to a new home in Wakefield, MA where they raised 4 daughters.

Widowed at age 48, Marie needed to return to work and was ever thankful to be re-hired by the telephone company after so many years. In 1989 she retired to Rockport, ME, a place she fell in love with when visiting her daughter Margaret. In 2009 she moved to Kennebunk where she lived until June 2018. She returned to the midcoast to live at Quarry Hill Assisted Living facility where she passed away.

Marie was the original minimalist. Throughout her life she lived simply, enjoying family gatherings, the company of her cats and dogs, going to the library, reading, and caring for her home and gardens. She lived frugally but was generous to her children, her grandchildren, and to those in need. As a child of the Great Depression, she was appreciative of her own blessings and regularly supported many charitable organizations.

Marie leaves behind her four daughters, Patricia Small and husband Bob; Margaret Laughlin; Mary Cavagnaro and husband Ben, and Jane Donahue and husband Dan. She also leaves 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her Funeral services will be private. Internment will be at Puritan Lawn Cemetery in West Peabody where she will be laid to rest with her parents and our dad.
