PEABODY - Marjorie Ann Lufkin, 79, of Brooksby Village, Peabody and formerly of South Hamilton, died Friday, March 16, 2018.
Born in Gloucester, she was the daughter of the late Warren K. Sr. and Gertrude L.C. (Calder) Lufkin. She was raised and educated in Gloucester and was a graduate of Gloucester High School. She continued her education at Salem State College, earning her degree in Nursing.
Ms. Lufkin devoted her life to children and family and was a motherly figure to many. Marjorie lived with and was an integral member of the Cabot family of Wenham and South Hamilton for 54 years, devoting her life to helping raise and guide the lives of the Cabot children. She also worked for a number of years as a nurse at Beverly Hospital and enjoyed caring for many other local children over the course of her life. She enjoyed traveling to many parts of the United States, Caribbean and Europe with the Cabot family. She was an avid tennis player for many years and collected crystal figurines from around the globe.
Marjorie is survived by her niece, Julie Guest of Gloucester, her nephews, Bruce W. Lufkin and his wife Marcia of Gloucester and Douglas Lufkin and his wife Susan of Gloucester, her sister-in-law Dorothy Lufkin of Ossipee, NH, her beloved Cabot family -- Mary Lou Cabot of South Hamilton, Helen Cabot McCarthy and her husband Bryan of North Hero, VT, Mandy Cabot and her husband Peter Kjellerup of Kennett Square, PA, Mithran Cabot of Polk City, FL, Anne Cabot Alletzhauser of Johannesburg, South Africa and James B. Cabot and his wife Carole Ganz of West Newbury -- and many great nieces, great nephews, and extended Cabot family members that loved her as a grandmother. She left a legacy of care and guidance and love and will be forever missed.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service which will be held graveside in Beechbrook Cemetery, Essex Ave., Gloucester on Saturday, June 23rd at 11:30 A.M. Assisting the family with the arrangements is the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (rte. 62) Danvers.
