Mary Kelly Obituary

SALEM- Mrs. Mary (Vasilakopoulos) Kelly, 96, of Salem, beloved wife of the late Philip J. Kelly, passed away Friday, August 21, 2020 at Life Care Center of Acton.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late George and Pandora (Salapatas) Vasilakopoulos. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School Class of 1941.

As a young woman Mary worked at Grant’s Department store, and then worked as a bookkeeper for several Salem companies. She finished her career as Office Manager for Walsh Construction where she remained for 25 years of dedicated service.

A longtime resident of the City of Salem, Mary was known for her sense of style, her love for a good bargain and playing her daily numbers. She had a wonderful sense of humor that endeared her to many and enjoyed sharing jokes with family and friends. Mary was a gracious host at many family gatherings and was always ready to lend a hand when needed. She was a loving mother and grandmother who was truly happiest when surrounded by family and was very proud and devoted to her grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered for her sense of style, even into her 90’s, her contagious sense of humor and love for her family.

Surviving Mary are her daughter, Robin McCann and her husband Charles, her son, James C. Kelly and his wife Cynthia, her grandchildren, Stephen Kelly, Christina Kelly and Martha Kelly, her brother-in-law Clarence Calder, and several nieces and nephews.
