SALEM – Mrs. Mary Ellen (McGrane) Zocco 72, of Salem, beloved wife of Salvatore “Sam” Zocco, died, Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Kaplan Family Hospice House surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late John P. and Helen (Holak) McGrane. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1966.
Mrs. Zocco began her professional career at the former Parker Brothers Games in Salem as an Assembler. Upon starting her family her focus became her children and providing a warm and loving home for them to grow up in. As they grew, she re-entered the work force with the City of Salem School Department as an assistant Chef in the Cafeteria Department. She worked for the Salem School Department for many years until the time of her retirement. Mary supported her husband throughout his professional career and assisted in his seasonal business Quality Marine Services of Salem, managing the accounting and billing. She was a great asset to all of her professional teams and companies.
A life long resident of the City of Salem, Mary enjoyed spending her time gardening and knitting. She possessed a sweet demeanor and was known to always put others needs ahead of her own. She was always there in times of need.
Mary recently became a grandmother and her beloved granddaughter became a great joy in her life. She would light up every time she was with her beloved Sarah. Family was always first as she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Sam Zocco of Salem, her sons, David Zocco of Salem and Brian Zocco and his fiancé, Victoria Pope of Raymond, N.H., her granddaughter Sarah Zocco, her sister, Patricia Shofner and her husband, William, her brother-in-law, Ulum (Bill) Zocco and his wife Joan and several nieces and nephews and her beloved canine companion and friend, Holly.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours at O’Donnell – Cremations – Funerals - Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem, Saturday, July 25th from 1 to 3:30 P.M. All attendees are required to wear face coverings, practice social distancing and are respectfully asked for no physical contact with the family. All other services are private.
