DANVERS – Ms. Maureen C. (Lynch) Shaffaval, 79 of Danvers beloved lifetime partner of Dr. John C. Clapp, died peacefully surrounded by her family, Sunday, October 22nd, 2023 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Margaret (Quinn) Lynch. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, Class of 1962.

Ms. Shaffaval had been employed for many years as an EKG Technician at the former Hunt Memorial Hospital in Danvers. She worked at the Hunt Hospital until the time of its closing and transitioned to the medical office of Dr. John C. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy and she rarely missed a life event whether it was cheering on their sports, attending a school event or celebrating birthdays. Maureen was a people person and had many life long friends. What began as “Wednesdays with Gail,” turned into a weekly gathering of many friends. She will be missed for her devotion to her family and friends and remembered for her bright smile and kindness.

An active woman in her day, she enjoyed spending her time skiing, gardening and golfing—even shooting a hole in 1 at Middleton Golf course. She loved to travel and especially treasured her trip to Ireland as she always embraced her Irish heritage. She could always be found listening to her Irish music on Saturday mornings. She also cherished her time spent at Sugar Hill in New Hampshire with her beloved friends and family creating lasting memories.
