Maurice Finn Obituary

WOBURN - Mr. Maurice (Bill) W. Finn, 86, of Woburn, beloved husband of the late Patricia M. (Cooper) Finn, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Ledgewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Beverly surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Malden he was the son of the late Maurice and Audrey (Harris) Finn. He was raised and educated in Melrose and was a graduate of Melrose High School. Maurice continued his education attending Northeastern University. 

 An honorably discharged veteran, Bill proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army posted in Germany.

While on leave in Ireland Bill met the love of his life Pat at the Metropole Ballroom in Dublin Ireland. Within a week of their meeting, they were engaged. Pat and Bill were together for over 50 years.

Following his discharge from the Army, Bill embarked on a long and distinguished career with the Federal Aviation Administration as a Radar Engineer. He worked in the North East region for over 20 years and later for the West Coast region for several years where he was known for his strong work ethic and expertise in his field.

A loving husband, father and grandfather, Bill was steadfast in his belief that family comes first. He led his family by example; with his positive outlook, his generous nature and could always be counted on for words of encouragement. He was truly happiest when surrounded by his family and was most proud of his children and grandchildren and their many accomplishments. Bill loved to travel with his beloved wife Patricia and together they travelled the world. He will be fondly remembered for his ever-present smile, his words of encouragement and deeply missed by his loving family and many friends.

Surviving Bill are his daughters, Linda Finn of Salem, Kathleen Dellarocco and her husband James of Burlington, his son William Finn and his wife Janna of Newburyport, his grandchildren, Robert Dellarocco of Fort Wayne, IN and Jillian Dellarocco of Bedford, MA and Patrick Finn of Portland, OR and Caitlin Finn of Malden, MA and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Loretta Madden.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service which will be held in O’Donnell – Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem on Thursday, July 15th at 5:30 P.M. Visitation prior to the service from 4 to 5:00 P.M. Burial is private. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Bill’s memory to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116.
