DANVERS – Mr. Maurice James “Jim” Crounse, 94, of Danvers beloved husband of the late Joanne (Jackson) Crounse, died May 25th, 2021 at Beverly Hospital.
Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Clara Crounse. He was raised and educated in Brookline and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, class of 1943 in Brookline. He continued his education at Massachusetts Maritime Academy, graduating with the class of 1947 and then earning his BSBA Degree from Boston College in 1949.
He served his country as a member of the United State Naval Reserves.
Mr. Crounse was the founder and proprietor of Insulation Contracting Corporation. He was president of the company from 1955 until the time of his retirement in 2007. In retirement, he was associated with Cranney Companies of Danvers, until just a few years ago.
A long-time resident of the Town of Danvers, Jim was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Thomas Power Council #1505 and the Polish Club, both of Danvers. Dedicated to his faith, he was a long-time communicant of St. Mary of the Annunciation Church in Danvers and over the years was a member of the Mr. & Mrs. Couples Club at the church. He had a true passion for the sport of golf and played every chance he could. He was a member of the Old Newbury Golf Club and enjoyed the camaraderie being on the course brought. He traveled in retirement and loved his family deeply. He will be missed.
Jim is survived by his son, William E. Crounse and his wife, Susan M. (Vaillancourt) of Newton, NH, his daughter-in-law, Janice Peetz, his grandchildren, Michael Crounse and his wife, Cheryl, Sarah Clark and her husband, Jon, Jennifer DeCoff and her husband, Joel, Brian Crounse and his wife, Amanda and Alison Crounse, his great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Madison, Nathan and Abigail and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Stephen M. Crounse and brother of the late Lloyd Crounse.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held from the Peterson-O’Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers, Wednesday, June 2nd at 9:30 A.M. followed by his funeral Mass at St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, Conant St., Danvers, at 10:30 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers. Visiting hours Tuesday, June 1st from 4 to 7 P.M.
