Michael Scott Upton

SALEM – Mr. Michael Scott Upton, 61 of Salem passed away, Tuesday, July 6, 2021.

Born in North Adams, Massachusetts, Michael was the son of the late John Sprague Upton and Dianne (Schaller) Upton. Raised and educated in New Hampshire and the North Shore, Michael had attended Hamilton Wenham High School and graduated from Bridgeton Academy.

A hard and dedicated worker, Michael started his early career in the construction industry where he was the proprietor of his own concrete foundation business for several years. Always willing to help others, Michael valued his position as a Grocery Manager where he dedicated over 20 years with Stop & Shop Supermarkets. Most recently, Michael had been employed with Home Depot in merchandising where he was always willing to help anyone with a question or concern.

A loving and caring father, Michael was so proud of his children. They were his life, strength and support that kept him fighting through all of his life challenges. Freedom on the sea kept Michael at peace, as he loved to go deep sea fishing along with spending his time surrounded by animals, especially his dogs. He will be sorely missed.

Michael is survived by his devoted children, Michael, Melissa, Isabel and Thomas Upton, the mother of his children, Kristin Patota, his siblings, David Upton and Elizabeth Blackburn and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
