SALEM – Mrs. Mildred A. (McCole) Sheldon, 94, of Salem, beloved wife of the late Philip Sheldon, died peacefully, Tuesday, April 19th, 2022 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.

Born in Swampscott, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Amy (Sweetland) McCole. She was raised and educated in Swampscott.

Mrs. Sheldon had been employed for over 25 years with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at the former Medfield State Hospital in Medfield until the time of her retirement.

A loving wife, aunt and great aunt, Mildred enjoyed spending her time knitting, completing puzzle and games of chance. A long-time resident of Salem, she previously lived in Franklin for many years. Mildred was happiest when surrounded by those she loved. She loved dinners out on the town, spending every Saturday night for over 70 years at Woodman’s in Essex. She loved a good party, a cold "Champagne of Beers" Miller High Life beer and playing Keno. Devoted to animals and their welfare, she had many canine and feline companions over the years and supported many Animal charities throughout her life. Above all else family always came first.

Mildred is survived by her nephews, Roy Sheldon of Salem and Edward Lotti of Salem, her nieces, Dottie Tracy and Judy McCole both of Beverly and their families and great nieces, great nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Philip Sheldon.
