Mildred Siegel Obituary

PEABODY – Mrs. Mildred (Marks) Siegel, 102 of Peabody, beloved wife of the late Armand Siegel, passed away peacefully in her residence at Brooksby Village on Thursday, April 27, 2023.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Mildred was the daughter of the late Abraham and Rebecca (Caplan) Marks. She was raised in Philadelphia, attending Philadelphia Public Schools and continued her education at the University of Pennsylvania receiving her bachelor’s degree. Following her marriage and move to Boston, Mildred received her education at MIT where she received her master’s degree in biophysics. Later in life, while her children were growing up, Mildred continued her education at Simmons College, receiving her master’s degree in Social Work.

With a true passion for knowledge, Mildred involved herself in many organizations, connecting with others and reflecting on different concepts and ideas. She was an active member of the Boston Ethical Society, serving on the board and planning many activities for the organization. She also managed the book club and enjoyed active participation in the foreign policy conflict resolution seminar.

As an engaging and open woman, Mildred was fully present with others; giving them her undivided attention, always making them feel special. She loved her family dearly and had a special relationship with each of her children and  grandchildren. She cherished her summer home in Sandwich, New Hampshire which was a welcoming place for her family to visit, connect and make memories each and every summer. She enjoyed being outdoors, walking and hiking. She could always be found with a book, learning something new or cooking up a special meal or dessert for her family to enjoy. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy and she loved visiting them all over the country, well into her 90’s. She cared deeply and made a deep impression on each and every person who met her. She will be missed and remembered fondly by many.

Mildred is survived by her sons, A. Siegel and his wife, Ann Wennerstrom and Jeffrey Siegel and his wife, Dianne McCutcheon of Bethesda, MD, her daughter-in-law, Nancy Siegel of Aventura, FL and her beloved grandchildren, Joshua and Adam Siegel, Bonnie Wennerstrom, Clara Siegel, Michael Wennerstrom, and Aaron and Jacob Siegel; her great-grandchildren, Nora Siegel, Armand Katz, Jeanne Louise Katz, Margot Wennerstrom, Wesley Siegel and Sadie Siegel. She was predeceased by her son, Jon Siegel.
