SALEM – Mrs. Muriel R. (McGann) Santos 90, passed away Friday, January 29, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of late Edward J. Santos.
Born in Swampscott, November 14, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Thomas McGann and Leila (Dunfey) McGann. She was raised and educated in Saugus, and was a graduate of Saugus High School, class of 1949.
Mrs. Santos began her professional career with the Sylvania Company. She matriculated to the Salem Public School System where she would spend 44 years as a Para-Professional until the time of her retirement. Muriel dedicated her professional life to the School Department. She worked at the old and new Salem High School and for many years at the Collins Middle School until the time of her retirement in 2016. She was known for her ever present and contagious smile, bringing joy to others.
Muriel was a family woman through and through. She loved spending time with her family. Muriel loved people and loved going out, she was an avid walker. Her and husband walked everywhere together and enjoyed every moment. She also loved to go shopping and bargain hunting. Yet above all else she was happiest when surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren.
Muriel is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Bochynski and her husband, John of Peabody, Donna Earle of Beverly and Lori Soper and her husband, Erle of Salem, her son, Dennis Santos of Peabody, her grandchildren, David Earle, Joseph Harrison, Jaclyn Santos and Thomas Santos, her great grandchildren, Kaelyn, Devin, Joey, Juliana, Joèl, Naya and Joshua, her sister, Agnes Leblanc and her husband, Arthur of Lynn, her sister-in-law, Janet McGann and several nieces and nephews. Muriel is pre deceased by her sister, Leila McGann, her brother, Thomas McGann and her son-in-law David Earle.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral Mass will be held at St James Church, Federal St., Salem, on Friday, Feb. 5th at 10 A.M. Relatives and friends invited.
