Nancy E. (Meadows) Hood

TOPSFIELD – Mrs. Nancy E. Hood, 84, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 30th, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. Her son and daughter-in-law were by her side. Born in Long View, TX she was the daughter of Calvin “Dick” and Bobbie Alein (Watkins) Meadows. Nancy was widowed by her husband, Eugene Hood, with whom she had celebrated 36 years of marriage.

Mrs. Hood graduated from Hughes Springs High School in Texas before making her way to Massachusetts. There, Nancy was a stay at home mom, doting on her young son, before taking a job at Masconomet Regional High School. There, she lovingly prepared and served meals to students. Upon retiring, Nancy bravely battled and survived breast cancer. She had a love for the out doors, meticulously maintained her home, and took great pride in her large vegetable garden. Not only did Nancy have a green thumb, but she also had a steady hand and was skilled in the intricate art of lace making and a member of the Lace Guild. She spent much of her later years volunteering for the town of Topsfield and the Council on Aging.

Nancy had a strong love for her family and was a beloved wife, mother and Nana. She lives on in the hearts of the many that loved her, including her devoted son, Brandon, and her daughter-in-law, Lorna. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren: Clayton and Jenna and future grandson-in-law, Benjamin Quinn. She is also survived by her extended family and numerous friends.

The family would like to thank the teams of Aberdeen Home Care and Care Dimensions for the love and care they showed Nancy during her final days Earth side. She will be missed dearly and endlessly.

ARRANGEMENTS: Private graveside services will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery, Topsfield. Assisting the family with the arrangements is O’Donnell Cremations – Funerals– Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) DANVERS.
