Natalie Wood Obituary

SANDOWN, NEW HAMPSHIRE – Mrs. Natalie M. (Hersey) Wood, 87 of Sandown, New Hampshire, the beloved wife of Charles E. Wood, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at the Parkland Medical Center in Derry, New Hampshire.

Born in Danvers, Natalie was the daughter of the late Reid and Gertrude (Ferguson) Hersey. She was raised and educated in Danvers, graduating from the former Holten Richmond High School in 1954.

As a young woman, Natalie worked at the Crayola Factory in Danvers, rolling and packaging crayons. She would later work for Hot Watt and the Deerskin Trading Post but it was her ultimate pride and joy of holding the “job” as a wife and mum. Providing a warm and loving home for her husband and children was her greatest promise. Once her children were grown, Natalie devoted the remainder of her professional working career to the Timberlane Regional School District where Mrs. Wood who was fondly known as “nana” to many, went above and beyond as the School Lunch Manager until the time of her retirement.

Her love for family was paramount, but her love for all children was endless. She was very giving, loving and present. Together, Natalie and Charles endured many adventures through life. They enjoyed camping with the family as members of NAFCA, chapter 49ers where they established meaningful connections, as did their children. They delighted in traveling, especially to Canada, New York and South Dakota and for the past 15 years, and would winter in Ocala, Florida where they enjoyed their many friendships. Natalie was happiest when cross stitching, sewing, singing or simply just being with her family. She was kind, respected and a bit fierce, always loving and always there. She will be deeply missed.

In addition to her husband Charles, with whom she shared nearly 68 years of marriage, Natalie is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Haines and her husband, Robert of Franklin, NH, Patricia Mountfort and her husband, Timothy of Conway, SC and Susan Pullino of Sandown, NH; her son, Stephen Wood and his wife, Joanne of Plaistow, NH; her 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Natalie is also survived by her brothers, Kenneth Hersey and his wife, Eleanor of Danvers and Richard Hersey and his wife, Ellen of Boscawen, NH; sister-in-law, Jean Hersey of Danvers and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. In addition to her parents, Natalie was pre-deceased by her son, Michael George Wood; siblings, Lorne Hersey, Marjorie Delaney, Roberta Bruce and Audrey Murphy; and brothers-in-law, Richard Delaney, Kenneth Bruce and William Murphy.
