SALEM - Mr. Norman Joseph Gauthier, 79 of Salem, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 26, 2022 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers with his two daughters, Lauren and Kristen by his side.
Born in Salem, Norman was the son of the late Annette (Boudreault) and Antonio Gauthier. Raised and educated in Salem, he was a graduate of Salem High School.
Norman’s early years he worked for Ted Hood at Hood Sailmakers in Marblehead creating sails for sailboats. He enjoyed the craftmanship in creating a beautiful tool for sailors. Later in life, Norman worked for an insurance company in finance where he worked for many years until the time of retirement.
Extremely artistic at a young age, Norman developed the skill of drawing and creating art; a hobby he cherished throughout his whole life along with listening and dancing to all types of music. Later in life, Norman continued with his art by producing abstract art and sketches receiving several accolades for his work by the Salem Art Association, which he was tremendously proud of. He was a quiet, humble man who enjoyed the company of his family & friends, cooking delicious food and had a great sense of dry humor. He will be deeply missed.
Norman is survived by his two daughters, Lauren M. Gauthier of Danvers and Kristen (Gauthier) Gagnon and her partner, Dave Paras of Peabody; his beloved grandson, Brady Michael Gagnon of Danvers, his former wife, Diane Talbot-Wood of Peabody and several nieces and nephews. Norman was the brother of the late Raymond Gauthier and Blanche Trudeau.
