DANVERS - Mr. Oscar Allman Spear Jr. 77 of Danvers, beloved husband of the late Nathlie Ann (Griffin) Spear, died unexpectedly Friday, Sept. 14, 2018 at his home.

Born in Melrose, he was the son of the late Oscar A. Spear Sr. and Evelyn Wyona (Ginn) Spear. He was raised and educated in Malden and was a graduate of Malden High School, Class of 1960.

An honorably discharged veteran, Oscar served his country as a member of the United States Airforce during the Vietnam War and followed in a long line of family service to the country, of which he was very proud. Mr. Spear had been employed in the Airlines Industry, beginning his professional career with the former Pan Am Airlines and for over 32 years had been employed with Delta Airlines until the time of his retirement in 2001. A long-time resident of the Town of Danvers, Oscar was a member of the former Calvary Episcopal Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Charles W. Davis Post 2359, both in Danvers. He was a member of the Polish Club in Danvers and was an active member of the Danvers Senior Center, where he made many friends. In his free time, he enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage and won many tournaments over the years. Above all else, family was most important to him and he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed. Oscar is survived by his daughter, Lee Spear-Gregory and her husband Daniel of Davie, Fl, his son, Mark Spear and his wife Heather of Danvers, his grandchildren, Jared, Ian and Dylan Spear and Ashley and Daniel Gregory, his brother, Chet Spear and his wife Joanie of New Mexico, his brother-in-law Conway Archer and several nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral services are private. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Assisting the family with the arrangements is the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Oscar's memory to the American Heart Association, P.O.
