DANVERS - Mrs. Patricia Edith (Barker) Billings, loving wife and mother, died peacefully in her home Friday, December 29th, 2023.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Pat spent her early years in Laconia, N.H. and North Attleboro, MA before moving to the North Shore. Pat graduated from Salem High School in 1944 and went on to complete a degree in Elementary Education from Salem State College. Graduating in 1948, she was the president of her class and continued to remain active in the Salem State University Alumnae association.

At Salem High School, Pat met her lifelong love, Alvin Billings. Post WWII, they married on April 17th, 1949, and shared forty-five years of loving marriage. Settling in the Salem – Peabody area, Pat was an elementary teacher in Marblehead and Peabody and a substitute teacher in the Peabody, Salem, and Rowley night school programs. Pat combined her skills as a teacher and her interests in knitting while working at The Stitchery in Topsfield until she was 88 years old. While raising her six children, Pat became an active member of the St. Thomas Parish including the PTA, the Mother of Twins group and serving in leadership roles in the Annual Bazaar. Additionally, Pat led a Girls Scout Troop and was an active and loyal supporter of all her children’s athletic teams.

Predeceased by her husband Alvin G. Billings, Pat is survived by six children: A. Thomas Billings and his wife, Sheila (Farren) of Swampscott, Kathleen Billings-McLaughlin and her husband, Thomas McLaughlin of Danvers, Marcia Billings SND of Ipswich, John Billings and his wife, Cheryl (Gagnon) of Danvers, Jimmy Billings and his wife, Carmella of Beverly, and Patricia Erickson and her husband, Michael of Rochester, New Hampshire. In addition, she leaves behind fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. Pat is also survived by her brother, George Barker of Marblehead, her sister, Joyce Furey of Salem and many, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Visitation will be at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 3 Margin St., Peabody/Salem line, on Wednesday, January 3rd, 2024, from 9 to 10 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. The Mass of Resurrection will immediately follow the visitation at 10 A.M. with interment at Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
