TOPSFIELD – Mrs. Patricia (Mecartney) Rolsma 91, of Topsfield, beloved wife of the late Bernard Rolsma, died peacefully, Saturday, February 13th, 2021 at her home.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, she was raised by the late Phyllis Eihl and Tomas B. Bringas
An honorably discharged veteran, she served her country as a member of the United States Navy.
Mrs. Rolsma assisted her husband in their family business, B. Rolsma & Company of Topsfield an Engineering firm. She was also the secretary at the First Church Congregational in Boxford for many years and at Linebrook Church in Ipswich.
A Topsfield resident since 1964, she was active in community projects, was a Girl Scout leader for over 35 years, a member of the 4H Organization and a longtime member of the Topsfield Historical Society and the Priscilla Capen Herb Society. She was talented musically and she played the chimes at Topsfield Congregational Church at noontime everyday for many years. She enjoyed spending her time volunteering, teaching, sewing, gardening, baking and crafting. Pat loved her family and will be deeply missed.
Daughter Christina once asked her dad "What was the best thing in your life?" and her dad turned around to looked at her with a beaming face and his finger pointed to himself and said: "Marrying my Pat!" I told my mom what he told me and she was very pleased.
Patricia is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Hoffman of Topsfield, Elizabeth Bond of Orr's Island, ME, Heidi & Tom Martin of Seabrook, NH and Christina Rolsma of Topsfield, her sons, Garry B. & Lola Rolsma of Powderly, TX, Peter B. & Linda Rolsma of Colorado Springs, CO, Dan B. Rolsma of Bedford, TX, Carl B. & Alison Rolsma of Milton, WI and Robert B. & Rachel Rolsma of Haverhill, 29 grandchildren: Patricia (Daniel) Nihan, Andrew, William (Jessica) and Thaddeus Bond, Matthew (April), Anna, Caleb, Miriam and Ian Rolsma, Anne N. Rolsma, Benjamin (Alicia), Nathanael, John, Abraham, Esther, Hannah, Elisabeth, Ethan and Seth Rolsma, Katrina (Jashua) Ahuja, Tatiana (Kevin) Myers, Lillian (Brandon) Evans, Elliott S. Martin, Simon, Elise and Emmeline Rolsma and 10 great-grandchildren Sean, Trevor and Liam Nihan, Audrey, Oliver, Ellis, Evelyn and Adeline Bond, Scarlett and Everett Rolsma and Baby Evans is on the way. & 10 great-grandchildren, her brother & his wife Tomas I. & Linda Bringas of Orlando, FL and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late John Bernard Rolsma, grandmother of the late Richard, Timothy and Allen Bell and sister of the late Nancy Dusseault.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service which will be held, graveside, in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Haverhill Rd, Topsfield, Thursday, Feb. 18th at 1 P.M.
