Patricia Alice Whooley Obituary

BEVERLY – Ms. Patricia Alice (Mcstay) Whooley, 89, of Beverly, died peacefully, Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Beverly Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Watertown, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Alice (Ryan) Mcstay. She was raised and educated in Watertown and was a graduate of Watertown High School, class of 1949. She made many lifelong friends growing up in Watertown.

Ms. Whooley was devoted to her family and dedicated her life to providing a warm and loving home for her children. She supported them in all of their endeavors and activities. She was a terrific mom.

Patricia was a long-time resident of Watertown, York, Maine and Salem and made friends where ever she went. She endeared herself to many with her warm and outgoing personality. She was truly a woman of great joy and people flocked to her and in turn she welcomed new friends with open arms. She enjoyed hosting social engagements especially her card club while residing in Watertown. She was a wonderful dancer, appreciated music was a huge cruise enthusiast and was one of the greatest shoppers of all time. She never saw a cruise ship or mall she didn’t like. The relationships Patricia had with her brothers and her sister-in-law; Lola were a core part of who she was. Up until her final moments she was politically aware, spiritually present and loved the movies. She wrote poems and talked about writing an autobiography. She loved the out of doors, nature, the ocean, Alaska and above all else her family and friends.

Patricia is survived by her daughter, Alice I. Whooley of Rockport, her son, David Joseph Whooley of Ashburnham, her sister, Maureen York and her husband John of Kittery, Me, her brother, John Mcstay and his wife Carol of Marlborough, her dearest lifelong friend, Patricia Quinn of Watertown, her sister-in-law, Liz Mcstay of FL and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Richard “Dicky” Mcstay, Kenneth “Mickey” Mcstay.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours at O’Donnell – Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem, Monday, July 13th from 2 to 4 P.M. Her funeral service will be held immediately following visiting hours at 4 P.M.. Donations in Patricia’s memory may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH  45250-0301. All attendees are required to wear face coverings, practice social distancing and are respectfully asked for no physical contact with the family.
