TOPSFIELD - Mr. Paul T. McGovern, 81 of Topsfield, beloved husband of Sandra R. (Evitts) McGovern passed away peacefully on Monday, September 30, 2019 at Masconomet Healthcare Center in Topsfield.

Born in Beverly, he was the son of the late Edward P. and Helen E. (Nolan) McGovern. Raised and educated in Melrose, he graduated from Melrose Public Schools.

An honorably discharged veteran, Paul proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.

Mr. McGovern dedicated his entire professional career to General Electric where he worked as a machinist.

A loving and devoted husband, father and Bumpa, Paul's greatest pride was his family. He loved his grandchildren and was very proud of their many accomplishments and truly relished his time spent with them. He was an avid gardener, had a great love for dogs and was very proud of his strong Irish heritage which created traditions and stories that he shared with his family to carry on for generations to come. He will be deeply missed.

In addition to his wife Sandra, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage, Paul is survived by his children; Todd McGovern of New Boston, NH, Terri-Lynne Tavares and her husband Jorge "Jay" of Topsfield and Troy McGovern of Topsfield, his grandchildren; Joshua, Amanda, Matthew and Caroline, his great-grandson, Trystin and his sister Helen Garnham, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Edward McGovern, Kathleen Rooney, Maureen Pariseau and Thomas and Edwina McGovern.

ARRANGEMENTS: Paul's funeral will be held from the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (rte. 62) Danvers on Friday, October 4th at 10 A.M. followed by his funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Parish, 12 Park St., Topsfield at 11 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Topsfield. Visiting hours on Thursday, October 3rd from 5 to 8 P.M.
