CAMBRIDGE - Mr. Paul L. Wilson, 60, of Cambridge, died unexpectedly, Wednesday January 2, 2019 at Beth Israel Hospital.

Born in Boston he was the son of Hildegard (Hemmerich) Wilson and the late Charles L. Wilson. He was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Danvers High School. Paul continued his education receiving his bachelor's degree from University of Massachusetts at Lowell.

Mr. Wilson had been employed as a Software Engineer for IBM for most his career, where he worked across a variety of technologies providing his singular expertise, enthusiasm for technology and camaraderie.

Paul had a friendly outgoing personality that endeared him to many. He never met a person he would not call friend, many considering him a best friend. He loved life and all that nature had to offer. He was an amateur astronomer, committed motorcyclist, enjoyed hiking the National and state parks and the outdoors in general. Paul was also an avid sports fan. He and his brother-in-law could be found most weekends watching a game with a combination of insight and passion. Paul was social and fun loving, he had a bright smile and a quick and irreverent wit aided by an extensive knowledge of trivia. He was the kind of friend that you could introduce to anyone and he would find common ground and strike up a conversation. He was kind, generous, opinionated, a gentleman, intelligent, hilarious, but most of all he was a close friend to many.

Paul is survived by his mother, Hildegard Wilson of Peabody, his sister, Elizabeth Dobbins and her husband Ephraim of Chester, NH, his brother, Charles "Charlie" Wilson Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Groveland and his nephew, John Jacob Wilson of Groveland. He was also the son of the late Reverend Charles L. Wilson. Paul's close family also included three cousins and their children. John and Silvia Hemmerich of San Ramon, CA; Paul and Nancy Hemmerich of Milford, NH; and Gretchen Hemmerich of Lemoncove, CA.

ARRANGEMENTS: A celebration of Paul's life will be held on January 26th, 11AM, at the Northshore Unitarian Universalist Church located at 323 Locust Street, Danvers, MA. Assisting the family with the arrangements is the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St. (Rte. 62) Danvers.
