LYNN - Mr. Peter A. Becker, 72 of Lynn, husband of the late Elizabeth (Deltuva) Becker passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Born on February 1, 1946 in Schenectady, New York, he was the son of the late Francis and Mary (Ziegler) Becker. Raised and educated in Schenectady, he attended Schenectady Public Schools and was a graduate of Winooski High School in Winooski, Vermont. Peter attended Vermont Technical College and continued his education at Newbury Jr. College and the United States Navy and Army Food Service School and earned his degree at the Culinary Institute of America. An honorably discharged veteran, Peter proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy, as a part of the Silent Service on submarines. The military always influenced his life and following his discharge from the United States Navy, Peter continued to serve his country as a member of the Untied States Army National Guard. During his military career, Peter served as assistant food service officer and recruiter for the United States Army and the Chief Commissary man for the United States Navy.

A skilled and respected chef, Peter had worked at many places throughout the North Shore including Salem State College. He was also a Sous Chef for Tammany Hall Restaurant in Salem, a rounds cook at both the Hawthorne Hotel and The Blacksmith Shop Restaurant in Rockport, a head round cook at the Kernwood Restaurant and a Head Chef at the Coach & Six restaurant in Peabody.

A loving and devoted family man, Peter loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren. He was an avid coin collector and a member of the American Legion who will be deeply missed by his loving family and many friends.

Peter is survived by his sister Carol Johnson & her husband Stephen of Ft. Myers, FL, his daughters, Luarie Lovering of Colchester VT, Gena Porter of Beverly, his sons, Kevin Becker and his wife Maureen of Peabody and Todd Becker and his wife Bethany of Lynn, his 8 grandchildren, Patrick Porter and his wife Gabriela Porter, Gabby Porter, Jared Smith, Joshua Becker, Maggie Becker, TJ Becker, Brandon Becker and Jackson Becker, his great-grandson Jace Becker and several nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service which will be held graveside at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Bourne on Friday, January 25th at 1 PM., please meet at the service line at 12:45 P.M.. Assisting the family with the arrangements is The O'Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem.
