Obituary

TOPSFIELD - Mr. Peter J. Giabbai, 77, of Topsfield, beloved husband of Rosalyn (Sneiderman) Giabbai, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 3rd, 2023 at the Atrium at Veronica Drive in Danvers.

Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Aristide and Edith (Tassinari) Giabbai. He was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Danvers High School. Peter continued his education at the University of Massachusetts where he earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.

An honorably discharged veteran, Mr. Giabbai proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era. He was stationed in Tucson, AZ where he was assigned a position at the Titan II missile complex as a missile crew member.

Mr. Giabbai began his long and successful career in Civil Engineering, working for several Engineering firms in Ohio and Louisiana before venturing out on his own. With a true entrepreneurial spirit, Peter founded Jaby Engineering, where he honed his skills and successfully ran his business for over 20 years.

Peter was a devoted loving father and grandfather who was truly happiest surrounded by his family and proud of their many accomplishments.  A man of many interests he was an avid Astronomy enthusiast, with a telescope in his home who enjoyed gazing at the many wonders in the sky. Peter enjoyed boating and relished the time spent with his family at their summer home in Waterboro, ME. He spent many hours collecting and categorizing his rock and mineral collection. Always willing to lend a hand to any one in need; he also served the Topsfield community as former Chairman of the Board of the Health Department for 8 years.

Humble, devoted, easy-going, and patriotic are his hallmarks that will be remember by those who loved him. Peter will be deeply missed.

In addition to his wife, Rosalyn, Peter leaves his devoted son, David Giabbai and his partner, Lauren Falthzik of West Peabody and his granddaughters, Olivia and Fiona of West Peabody who referred to Peter as Papa Pete. He leaves his brother, Paul Giabbai and his wife Dianne of Florida and his nephew, Todd Giabbai of Peabody.
