Philip Crowley Obituary

MIDDLETON - Mr. Philip J. Crowley, 74, of Middleton, beloved husband of Catherine (Cashman) Crowley, passed away Saturday October 3, 2020 at Lahey Medical Center in Burlington, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Midleton, County Cork, Ireland, he was the son of the late Patrick and Alice (O’Neill) Crowley. He was raised and educated in Ireland.

An entrepreneur at heart with a strong work ethic, Mr. Crowley was the proprietor of the Horse and Jockey Bar in Midleton, Ireland for many years. He was the quintessential tavern owner and could be found tending to his customers with his quite demeanor, ever present smirk and if you listened closely you would find he had a great sense of humor. In America, Philip had been employed by Fast Freddie’s in Middleton, where you could find him seven days a week, for over 28 years.

He was a loving, and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was happiest when surrounded by his family participating in their many activities and was most proud of their many accomplishments. He had passion for horse racing and horses and enjoyed teaching his children to ride. He was committed to his faith, his family and will be deeply missed.

Surviving Philip, in addition to his loving wife Catherine with whom he shared 45 years of marriage, are his children, Norah Crowley of Middleton, Alice Rooney and her husband Matthew of Georgetown, Patrick Crowley and his wife Hazel of Dungarvin, Ireland, Peter Crowley of Middleton and David Ritchie of Saugus, his grandchildren, James, Charlotte, Annabelle and Robyn Crowley and Ollie and Niall Rooney, his brothers-in law, sister-in-law and several nieces and nephews in Ireland. He was also the father of the late Teresa Crowley and brother of the late John, Patrick and Peter Crowley.
