SALEM - Phyllis J. (Konovalchik) Luzinski, 88, wife of the late Edward J. Luzinski and daughter of the late Alexander and Michalena (Archi) Konovalchik, passed away peacefully on May 7th, 2022 surrounded by her family.
She grew up on Becket St. in Salem and attended the Phillips School and graduated from Salem High School Class of 1951. After High School she worked for a brief time in Washington, DC for the C.I.A. She worked for 18 years for District Attorney Kevin Burke in the office of Victim Witness.
She was active in the Polish Legion of American Veterans, Ladies Auxiliary#55 where she served as state President for 6 years and was Treasurer & Secretary for 12 years. Phyllis was also a member of the V.F.W. Post#1524 Ladies Auxiliary for over 56 years.
After living a short time in Middleton, she and Ed raised their family in Salem at the House of the Seven Gables, where Ed was the caretaker. Recently she was featured in North Shore Magazine for her lifelong affiliation with the Derby Street Polish community in Salem and the H7G. As a child she attended programs at the settlement house, worked as a tour guide and volunteered there.
She leaves behind her children and their spouses; David & Kathy Luzinski of Beverly; Lucy & Doug Halsted of Marblehead; William & Cheryl Luzinski of Salem; Paul & Sandy Luzinski of Salem; Mary & Michael Paul (d.) of Salem; Barbara & Matthew Burke of Marblehead. Her grandchildren George Halsted, Hannah Halsted, Timothy Paul, Erin Paul, Katy Luzinski, Claire Burke, Bridget Burke, Julia Munroe, Gabby Munroe, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Phyllis is predeceased by her brothers; Stanley Lusko and Andy Konovalchik; sisters Anne Defanski and Bertha Lentini.
ARRANEGMENTS: Her funeral service will be held at O’Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) SALEM, Friday, May 13th at 9 A.M. Relatives and friends invited.
