ANDOVER – Mr. Richard “Dick” Adams, 76, passed away Monday, July 18, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, he was the son of Joseph F. and Louise E. (Diehl) Adams. He was the loving husband of Ann M. (Packer) Adams with whom he celebrated 53 years of marriage.
Dick graduated from Central Catholic High School in Lawrence and went on to attend Merrimack College, obtaining his bachelor’s degree in business. Dick worked mostly in sales throughout his life, employed with International Minerals and Chemicals and Lucent Technologies before becoming a buying agent for Airgas, Inc.
Dick was a skilled pilot and often enjoyed flying out to Nantucket with his beloved wife, Ann. He also would fly across the county to attend various aircraft conventions. Dick had a love for model trains, transforming his basement into his own personal exhibit that he could enjoy with his grandchildren. He was also an avid NASCAR fan. For 16 years, Dick was actively committed to the AA community, serving as a mentor and sponsor.
Dick is survived by his beloved wife, Ann M. Adams of Andover, and their children; Scott Adams and his wife Jaymi-Lyn of Auburn, and Mark Adams of Andover, along with his grandchildren; Edward and Shea Adams of Andover. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert Adams and his wife Karen of Plaistow, NH, Joseph Adams of Bradford, James Adams and his wife Nancy of Plaistow, NH, and Raymond Adams and his partner Leanne Shafner of Andover.
ARRANGEMENTS – Burial at West Parish Garden Cemetery- Andover and celebration of life will take place at a later date.
