MIDDLETON – Mr. Richard D. Collins 90, of Topsfield, formerly of Middleton, beloved husband of Ivy (MacLean) Collins, died unexpectedly, Sunday, December 20, 2020 at his home.

Born in Danvers, he was the son of the late Milton and Pauline (Leary) Collins. He was raised and educated in Middleton and was a graduate of the former Holten High School in Danvers.

Mr. Collins had been employed as a Gas Technician for many years until the time of his retirement.

Dedicated to his community, Mr. Collins was an over 30 years member of the Town of Middleton Call Fire Department. He took great pride in serving his home town of Middleton as a Fire Fighter.  

Richard lived to do for others. He acquired many nicknames over the years as he endeared himself to others easily. “Mr. Fix It”, Dick was always willing to lend a hand to a neighbor or friend with any multitude of projects. He could truly fix anything. He had a great sense of humor and a true talent of bringing people together. Through his devotion to others he made a great impact on the fabric of the Town of Middleton and will be deeply missed.

He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a dear Pupa to his family and will be remembered for his kindness and love of family and community.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Ivy (MacLean) Collins of Topsfield, his daughters, Patricia Maclary of Middleton and Deborah Barton and her husband, Steve of Cold Brook, NY, his grandchildren, Colleen Ruble and her husband, Daniel, Kathleen Corall and her husband, Daniel, Jackie LaLonde and her husband, Matthew and Timothy Bouchard and his wife, Jaime, 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Patricia Jordan.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral services are private. Assisting the family with the arrangements is the Peterson-O’Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., Danvers, MA 01923.
