Richard Joseph Cusack, 96, of Beverly died Sunday April 10th, 2022 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Richard H. and Sarah (Lyons) Cusack. He was the brother of the late Mary Perry and the late Katharine Morgan.
Richard was raised in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School. He continued his education at Suffolk University in Boston earning both his Bachelors and Juris Doctorate.
Richard was an honorably discharged veteran serving his country as a member of the United States Army during the occupation of Japan during World War ll.
Richard had been employed as a teacher for 34 years for the City of Salem School Department.
Richard had a deep love of golf. As a member of Wenham Golf Club he was club champion numerous times and his claim to fame was hitting two holes in one in a single day. His other love was horse racing. He worked weekends and summers at Rockingham Park and Suffolk Downs. He attributed his sharp mind to playing the horse races. Richard was also a great debater and enjoyed a good argument. That was truly the lawyer in him.
Richard was a parishioner of St Mary of the Annunciation Church in Danvers and when he could drive, he would attend daily Mass at the Carmelite Chapel at the Northshore Mall.
Richard was blessed to have the love of two kind and gentle women. First the mother of his children, Lucine Cusack and then the late Virginia Gilligan. He is survived by his daughters, Angela Sullivan, Christine Kelly-Rose, Valerie Cardarelli and her husband Jack, Regina Cusack, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
ARRANGEMENTS: Richard's Funeral Mass and Burial will be private. Assisting the family with the arrangements is O'Donnell Cremations - Funeral - Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (rte 62) DANVERS.
