LYNN- Mr. Richard J. "Dickie" Febonio, a resident of Lynn, passed away suddenly on Tuesday the 18th day of November, 2014, at his home in Lynn. Richard J. Febonio was born on January 14, 1931, the son of the late Nemo and Ruth Febonio. He was married to Maureen Breen of Peabody on August 14, 1953, for 60 years.

Dickie is survived by 8 of his children and their spouses; Richard (Mary) Febonio, Nashua, NH, Steven (Kim Hall) Febonio, Northbridge, MA, Michael Febonio, Austin, TX, Julie Febonio, Danvers, MA, Ellen Febonio, Mission Viejo, CA, Mark Febonio, Chicago, IL, Maureen (Mark) Caron, Swampscott, MA, and Pamela Madden, Peabody, MA. 11 loving grandchildren; Steven (Bobo) Jr, Chrissy, Danielle, Roxanne, Tracy, Crystal, Ryan, Michelle, Craig, Steven, and Aimee. Followed by 8 great grandchildren; Elektra, Mia, Marcus, Madison, Makenna, Keiara, Avery and Henry. His siblings and spouses; Dephny Zirelli and Joseph (Michele) along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his devoted wife Maureen (2013), two of his loving sons, Kevin Febonio (1996) and James Febonio (2010), a brother Robert (2010),) and his son-in-law Steven Madden (2012).

Dickie served in the United States Army for 4 years during the Korean War and was Honorably Discharged in 1953.

For over 25 years, he worked at Torque Systems in Waltham. Working as an Electrical Engineer, he developed numerous patents for electric motors that were instrumental in the success of the business.

In the early years of his marriage, his favorite hobby was playing sports with his children and later was extremely happy to be able to coach/play with his sons in the Salem Recreational Leagues and then the adult softball leagues down at the Salem Willows. He and his devoted wife enjoyed family activities including going into Fenway Park to watch the much beloved Red Sox with his family and friends on game nights. Additionally, for over 30 years, he bowled in many candlepin leagues in Salem and Peabody. He passed on his love of golf to most of his children and for many years there has been an annual Febonio Invitational Golf Tournament at Salem Municipal held in honor of his father, Nemo.

​ARRANGEMENTS: The family will greet friends at The O'Donnell Funeral Home 46 Washington Sq., (At Salem Common) Salem, Sunday, Nov. 23rd, from 4 to 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service which will be held graveside in the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Cedar Grove Ave, Peabody, Monday, Nov. 24th at 11A.M.. Please gather at the cemetery entrance at 10:45 A.M. for escort to the burial site. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty Street, Danvers, MA. 01923.
