SALEM - Mr. Richard J. Gagnon, 70, of Salem, beloved husband of Sandra Jean (Campbell) Gagnon, died Friday, March 13, 2020 at his home unexpectedly. Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Elie J. and Claire M. (Costello) Gagnon. He was raised and educated in the Castle Hill Section of Salem and attended the former Ste. Anne's Grammar School. He continued his education at Salem High School. An honorably discharged disabled veteran, he served his country as a member of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was proud of his service to his country. Mr. Gagnon had been employed with the City of Salem Parks Department and more recently had worked as a custodian and Security Guard at various North Shore Companies. A life long resident of the City of Salem, Richard was a die-hard Boston Sports fan. He loved to watch his beloved Patriots and Red Sox win the World Championships. He was just as passionate about music and is the owner and creator of an extensive record collection. Beginning with 1960's music his catalog of records has grown to cover all genres. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Valloid Council 76 of Salem and a devoted and loving husband, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Sandra Jean (Campbell) Gagnon of Salem, his sisters, Patricia Gagnon and her husband William Lewis of Norton and Barbara Gagnon of Boston, his brother, Kenneth Gagnon and his wife Paula of Peabody, his sister-in-law, Sally Cunningham of Kiawah Island, SC and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Robert Gagnon.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held in The O'Donnell Funeral Home, 84 Washington Sq., (At Salem Common) Salem, Tuesday, March 17th at 11:30 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in the National Veterans Cemetery, Bourne is private. Visiting hours prior to the service from 10 to 11:30 A.M.
