DANVERS- Mr. Richard J. Girard, 71, of Danvers, beloved husband of Ann M. (Slazenik) Girard, passed away peacefully on Friday September, 17th, 2021 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Danvers, he was the son of the late Conde and Mildred (Rackliff) Girard. He was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Danvers High School Class of 1968.

He was the owner of Dicks Drapery and Upholstery of Danvers, notable for their quality work and attention to detail for over 40 years.

A loving husband, father, grandfather and known to many as “Uncle Dickie”, Dick was devoted to his family. He was happiest when surrounded by his family and friends. He relished being the life of the party, telling tales and making people laugh. He enjoyed camping and fishing with his family and friends and also looked forward to a good day of antiquing. Dick was an avid bowler and belonged to the Sunnyside Bowling League for many years, was an active member of the Kiwanis Club and St. Michael’s Polish Club of Peabody as well as a volunteer of the Red Cross Disaster Team. He will be remembered for his outgoing personality that endeared him to many and will be deeply missed by his loving family and many friends.

Surviving Richard, in addition to his wife Ann with whom he shared 51 years of marriage, are his sons, Todd Girard and his wife, Kelly Kawahara of Maui, HI, and David Girard and his fiancé, Erika Louanis of Billerica, his four grandchildren, Aiden and McKenzie of Maui, HI and Gavin and Ethan of Billerica, his beloved aunt and uncle, Beverly and Robert Ogiba of Danvers, his brothers-in-law, Henry Slazenik of Danvers and James Slazenik of Las Cruces, NM and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Betty Charland and Robert Girard.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service which will be held in O’Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations - DANVERS, 167 Maple St. (Rte. 62) Danvers on Friday, September 24th at 6:30 P.M. Visiting hours prior to the service from 3 to 6 P.M. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in Richard’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
