SALEM – Mr. Richard John Lowe, 75, of Salem, beloved husband of Eileen (McMullan) Lowe died peacefully, August 29th, 2021 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a 27-year battle with cancer. The family will be eternally grateful to Dr. Andrew Yee, Dr. Eleanor Gilbert and associates, for Dick's excellent care.

Born in Salem, he was the son of Elizabeth (Mohrmann) Lowe of Salem and the late John Lowe. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School. He continued his education earning his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.

An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country proudly as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Lowe had been employed as a Cost Estimator with Atwood & Morrill in Salem for many years until the time of his retirement.

A lifelong resident of the City of Salem, Dick was an avid golfer, traveler and photographer. He loved to travel on cruises with his family and friends, creating many unforgettable memories along the way. Faith was an important part of his formation. He was a communicant of the Mary Queen of the Apostles Parish in Salem and was an active member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. As a young man he was a member of the St. Mary’s Cardinals Drum and Bugle Corps, where he made many lifelong friends. Family and friends were truly at the center of Dick’s life. He was a loyal and supportive friend, a loving husband, dad, grandfather, brother, son and uncle. He was extremely proud of all of the accomplishments of his family. He will be deeply missed.

Dick is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Eileen Lowe of Salem, his sons, Gregory Lowe and his wife Deirdre of Salem and Douglas Lowe and his wife, Andrea DiCenso of Boston, his grandchildren, (who were his pride and joy) - Abby, Evan and Madelyn Lowe, his mother, Elizabeth (Mohrmann) Lowe of Salem, his sister, Madeline Osiecki and her husband Arthur of Jacksonville, his brother, Michael Lowe and his wife, Joan of Salem and several nieces and nephews.
